Chief Brad Wells

Brad Wells was appointed Chief of Police for the City of Wood River (IL) on March 5, 2018. He is also the City of Wood River Building and Zoning Administrator. Chief Wells was appointed as a Police Officer for the City of Wood River in 1990 and was appointed as a Deputy Sheriff for the Madison County Sheriff’s Office in 1992.

Wells attended Session 45 at the former Belleville Area College Police Academy. Wells is a graduate of the F.B.I. National Academy Session 233. Wells retired as the Chief Deputy Sheriff for the Madison County Sheriff’s Office and returned to the Wood River Police Department in 2015.

Wells currently serves as the Secretary for the Southern Illinois Chiefs of Police Association. He is a board member for the St. Louis Area Metropolitan Major Case Squad and the SILEC Advisory Board. He is a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police and the Illinois Association of Chiefs.
