Chief Kirk Brueggeman

Kirk Brueggeman was appointed the Director of Public Safety on November 15, 2021.  As the Director of Public Safety, Brueggeman oversees the City of O’Fallon’s Police, EMS, and Fire Departments. He was appointed as a police officer for the City of O’Fallon in 1999, and has served the city for the last 24 years.

Brueggeman holds a bachelor’s degree in administration of justice from Southern Illinois University and a master’s degree in human resource management from Lindenwood University.  He is also a graduate of Class 460 of Northwestern University’s School of Police Staff and Command.

Brueggeman currently serves as the Treasurer for the Southern Illinois Chiefs of Police Association.  He is also a board member for the Major Case Squad, SILEC Advisory Board and Metropolitan Enforcement Group of Southern Illinois.  He is a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police, the Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police, and the O’Fallon Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 198.
