Madison County Coroner Nick Novacich began his law enforcement career with the Granite City Police Department in 2000. During his career, he served in both the Patrol and Investigations Divisions and was a member of the ILEAS Region 8 Special Response Team and the Major Case Squad of Greater St. Louis. In 2023, he was appointed Chief of Police and retired from the department in 2024 to assume his current role as the elected Coroner of Madison County, Illinois. Coroner Novacich holds a master’s degree in Criminal Justice Administration, is a graduate of the FBI National Academy, Session 272 (2018), and holds Diplomate status with the American Board of Medicolegal Death Investigators (ABMDI).
